Accurate & Reliable Radon Testing in The FM Area
Radon is an odorless, tasteless and colorless gas that is virtually undetectable to humans. It is released into the home by the decay of uranium, usually found in the building’s foundation. At high levels radon is extremely dangerous and carcinogenic. After cigarettes, radon is the most common cause of lung cancer in both Europe and the U.S.
At Core Home Inspections, we are both knowledgeable and skilled in conducting radon testing and believe it to be one of the most important aspects of a home inspection for the Red River Valley and Lakes area. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, one in 15 homes in the United States contain unsafe levels of radon.
Fortunately, radon testing and mitigation is now easier and more accurate than ever.
At Core Home Inspections, we set up a top-of-the-line radon continuous-testing monitor. The building or property being tested will need to be closed for 12 hours during testing. After 48 hours, we obtain the test equipment and the results. If the radon inspection indicates that your home contains unsafe levels, Core Home Inspections will consult with you about the variety of methods for mitigating the radon and reducing the health risks for you and your family. A full report is provided after the inspection is complete.
Once the risk to your home has been reduced, periodic follow up tests are always recommended for homes with high levels of radon.
